This work contains two papers, prepared by the author for the First Anniversary of the Foundation Day of the Vedantic Research Centre, India, held on the 18th February 1996 and the centenary celebrations of Sri Ma Anandamayee, held in November 1995.

Quite a substantial number of the young generation of the modern West want to know about the spiritual heritage of Ancient India, and the meaning and significance of the caste system. Keeping in mind this modern generation, Ganguly presents this work containing two papers entitled: "Caste, Politics and Religion - An Inter-Disciplinary Study in Indian Historical Perspective" and "Universal Religion and Sri Sri Ma Anandamayee". The titles are self-explanatory. Ganguly prepared the first paper for the first anniversary of the Foundation Day of the Vedantic Research Centre, India, held on the 18th February 1996, and the other for the centenary celebrations of Sri Sri Ma Anandamayee, held in 1995. One of the important phenomenon of the new millennium is India's unity with the West through her cultural and spiritual heritage.
