WinEcon is an interactive-learning software package for teaching introductory economics. Offering more than seventy-five hours of material on two CD-ROMs, one covering macroeconomics and the other microeconomics, it includes extensive step-by-step tutorials, practice quizzes, economic databases, and an economics glossary. It is the first computer-based learning package to cover the entire syllabus for an economics principles course. Upon its release in the United Kingdom, WinEcon was awarded a medal by the British Computer Society, a European Academic Software Award, and an Asymetrix Interactive Award for Educational Software. The MIT Press version of WinEcon is the first American adaptation of the software available in the United States. It is supported by more than 150 Associate Members and managed by the Institute for Learning and Research Technology at the University of Bristol.
