This report analyses the system impact of antenna arrays introduction into the base stations of cellular networks with radio interface based on TDMA or CDMA technology, concentrating on the SFIR method. GSM and IS95 are analysed to identify requirements for efficient antenna array introduction.

This report analyses the system impact of antenna arrays introduction into the base stations of cellular networks with radio interface based on TDMA or CDMA technology, concentrating on the SFIR method. GSM and IS95 are analysed to identify requirements for efficient antenna array introduction. The requirements are especially targeted to radio transmission schemes specified in the ACTS FRAMES project (FMA1 and 2), the basis of the UTMS radio interface in ETSI.
