The 18th-century revival of interest in mediaeval literature led to great opportunities for forgers and imposters, including Thomas Chatterton. This six-volume boxed set contains a collection of major contemporary contributions to the controversy over his "Rowley Poems".

This ironically gave rise to the 'marvellous boy' image of Chatterton, heralded by the later Romantic poets.
