This revised and expanded edition provides an accessible, up-to-date guide to Britain's laws and legal system (including the police and prisons). It also features coverage of the UK's new Human Rights Act and investigates law-making at European levels.

Updated for the syllabus changes implemented in 2000, the series also includes the titles: "Human Rights", which aims to encourage students to develop a sense of global citizenship by engaging with issues ranging from political freedom and economic injustice to the rights of the disabled; "Democracy in Action", which presents students with a picture of how the United Kingdom is governed at local, regional, national and European levels; "Global Concerns", a student's book which adds a global dimension to the series, helping to prepare students for life in a rapidly changing, increasingly globalised society; and "Teacher's Resources", which offers support for "Global Issues", complete with 40 copymasters and detailed notes on how the whole series can assist the teacher in delivering the National Curriculum.
