This book will be small enough in size so that the Surgical Technologist can carry it with them at all times. It will be based on the 5th Core Curriculum of Surgical Technologist, the required curriculum for Surgical Technology schools, and will be mostly geared towards the Surgical Technologist and drugs used in the operating room. The book begins with terminology definitions and abbreviations used with pharmacology. A brief section on pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics follows. The type of medication actions/effects is included with drug forms and routes of administration. Care and handling is included as well as illustrations of preparation in the sterile field and non-sterile area. The rest of the text covers medications used in the operating room. Drugs are in alphabetical order and displayed out on a single page with pertinent information needed in an easy to read format.
