Oscar's family is set to celebrate Independence Day with food, festivities, fun, and of course fireworks. There is only one problem - Oscar is not invited to take part. He is left at home for his own well being. Of course, the little kitten is not about to miss the biggest birthday party of the year.
The whimsical illustrations of Michael Martinez add colour and life to the story, and depict the culture, values and unity unabashedly on display in the big cities and small towns of America, each and every July.

Robert and Beverly Kynor are a dynamic mother and son team from Colorado who share a passion for teaching, music, children and, most of all, animals and their amusing antics. They especially love Oscar the kitten, whose zealous adventure for life has inspired them to write a book series. The authors are both accomplished educators with degrees in Elementary Education and experience working with young children. Robert, a Suma Cum Laude graduate of Regis University, specialised in children's literature. He received the prestigious "Golden Apple" award for demonstrating excellence as a student teacher. Beverly retired from teaching after enjoying nearly 40 years with elementary-aged children. One of her favourite classroom activities was "story time" where she shared her enjoyment of books with her students. Both are avid readers, lifelong learners, and accomplished musicians. The author's, skilfully weave a story which juxtaposes a kitten's quest for freedom and adventure, with that of a young country intent on taking its rightful and honourable place in history. The themes of the importance of community involvement, citizenship, cultural diversity and pride in the American Spirit are prevalent in the story of Oscar the All American Kitten.
