After running out of her mother's home, Asuna reaches Zeon's National Defense University. Asuna finds Shin, Emilu, and Erisia at the University sightseeing. The group all sneak into the University. Suddenly, Asuna runs as if she was drawn to something. Asuna reaches to the spot that she was drawn to, and she meets a mysterious boy named 'Akira.'

Haruka wants to tell Yahagi something, but cannot, so she later decides to go to the school ship to meet Yahagi. However, before she is able to meet him, Haruka is kept captive by a colonel. The colonel and Professor Forma interrogate Haruka about Asuna being an experiment in the hybrid project. Throughout the interrogation, Forma figures out that Asuna's father is actually Yahagi. In the school ship, the students talk to Shin about Asuna. They tell him that he needs to be special to be 'worthy' of Asuna, since everyone feels that Asuna is special. In order to prove that he is better and worthy of Asuna, Shin volunteers to become a debris collector in space from the combat that has been taking place. While out in space, Shin encounters a looming enemy, and the enemy starts to attack. Shin is having a tough time, but right when he is about to be killed, a mysterious ray is emitted from Shin's MS. The enemy is in disbelief at what has happened, and the enemy speculates that Shin is a new type...
