Disappearing. A User's Manual accompanies series of artecology existential experiments carried out on the banks of the Vistula River, titled "Disappear by the Vistula" as a lexicon of vanishing. The dialectic about-turn allows to assume that vanishing itself can be a way (possibly the only one) to slip from the social machineries enslaving and annihilating reality. If everything disappears (which cannot be denied), it is maybe worth trying to vanish against the common tendency, instead of disappearing together with it. Surrealists would say that this issue is primarily of a moral nature. Nevertheless, some of the instances of vanishing presented here raise hope that we are (still!) dealing with a strategic problem. Vanishing does not necessarily have to amount to escapism. As a Gypsy saying has it 'everybody has a right to a place in the shadows'. Maybe it is a revolutionary postulate appropriate for our era? Just in case - let's not bid farewell just yet.
