The Rules of Music

This English translation of "Le Regole Della Musica: Indagine Sui Meccanismi Della Communicazione" uses the authors' own computer program to analyse cantatas by Giovanni Legrenzi in order to consider the rules of melody and develop a theory of melody useful for re-examining western musical styles.

The co-authors have not devoted themselves on a full-time basis to this work. Dr. Jacoboni has contributed mainly in the methodological aspects of the research and in the development of all of the necessary computer applications.
