"Bill's New Frock" is Anne Fine's tale of one incredible day in the life of Bill Simpson - a day when he finds out just what it's like to be a girl. This literacy resource pack is designed to help teachers make the most of childrens' enthusiasm to read about Bill and his friends by providing a range of ideas and photocopiable worksheets for use in the classroom. The pack has been written with the literacy hour in mind - there are word-level, sentence-level and text-level activities for each chapter, for use after a shared reading of each section - but also offers ideas for use beyond that one hour per day. Extended writing activities and topic-based work suggestions will help children to develop a sense of the book as a whole, and also help teachers to link literacy work with other areas of the curriculum.
