Business incubators are growing rapidly over the world, from 200 at the beginning of the 1990s to over 3,000 at the beginning of the new millennium. This publication presents some of the lessons learned in the countries in economic transition. It illustrates the status of local institutions set up to foster entrepreneurship, and encourage growth and competitiveness among small-and medium-sized enterprises.
