The aim of this study is to outline the implications on Africa'a development of the 1992 Single European Market and the transformation of Eastern Europe since 1989. Among the questions explored are the implications of these changes for capital flows, technology transfers and the free movement of goods, services and people between Africa and Europe, as well as what lessons recent European experiences of closer regional integration have for Africa. The intention of the book is to provide hard data on the state of European-African economic relations. It also provides an analysis of the economic issues raised by the Single European market and makes policy recommendations.
