Presented here are the proceedings of the 8th CEAS European Propulsion Forum which covered affordability and environment issues in air travel.
Affordability and the Environment are the key drivers in the design of new propulsion systems. Cost of purchase and cost of ownership are equally important for both military and civil applications, and were represented at this conference by papers ranging from manufacturing process improvements to improved reliability and fault diagnosis Noise and emissions must be reduced if increases in air travel are to be sustained with an acceptable environmental impact Work will be presented showing both near and long term advances in this field, including the two European Commission funded technology demonstrators, Antle and Clean. Customer input was provided in the form of an airline operator, and by a member of the European Commission, as a purchaser of Research. The finding will be of benefit to all researchers, designers and operators of propulsion systems and their components.
