Advances in Superconductivity

This volume contains discussions of research in superconductivity, with the ultimate goal of producing materials in a form that can be fabricated into end products. It reports on several new technologies for fabricating rare-earth 123 tapes and wires.

The ultimate goal in high-temperature superconductivity is to produce superconducting materials in a form that can be fabricated into end products. To achieve this goal requires expertise across a wide spectrum of subjects from physics, chemistry, materials, production engineering, and electronic and electrical engineering to entrepreneurial and business skills. The Ninth International Symposium on Superconductivity, continuing the series of annual meetings, provided a forum for the discussion of the latest findings. The long-awaited goal of super-efficient power applications came one step closer to realization with reports on several new technologies for fabricating rare-earth 123 tapes and wires.
