Across the Sea of Sorrow is an attempt to answer the question, what forces created the descendants of African slaves into the people they are today. Through photographs, 30 oil paintings and words by the author, it tells a sad and brutal story that has left a damaged people behind. But people who are fighting hard to become the people they were before slavery. It is a lesson in history that is simple to digest and hard to forget. The oil paintings were exhibited at Brixton art gallery in London in 1997 to rave reviews.
