Using the voices of miners and their families, along with NUM minutes and archives, Sixty Years of Struggle tells the story of Betteshanger's proud history standing up for workers' rights.

The book features interviews with people who were there from the beginning ('sinkers') and many who came from across the UK in the 1930s.

More recent memories bring the story up to date, with the strikes of the 1970s and 1980s, the failed attempt by the miners to take over the pit, the eventual closure of Betteshanger in the 1990s and the survival of this courageous community to the present day.
