11th Retail Crime Survey

In 2003, customer theft cost the retail sector [pound]410 million, staff theft cost [pound]282 million, burglaries accounted for [pound]111 million, till snatches cost over [pound]1 million and undetected crime losses cost the retail sector [pound]631 million. Spending on crime prevention increased by [pound]420 million. These are some of the findings from the British Retail Consortium's eleventh annual Retail Crime Survey. The survey also details information and statistics on retail crime and looks at the trends for 2003. It compares the costs of crime and its prevention with previous years and examines the impact of initiatives tackling the problem, on businesses and communities.
