Designed and produced in response to an open brief set by tutors to promote the BA (Hons) Graphic Design course at the University of Lincoln and to celebrate student achievement.

This book was designed and produced in response to an open brief set by tutors to promote the BA (Hons) Graphic Design course at the University of Lincoln and to celebrate student achievement. The design team decided to steer clear of a typical student retrospective or catalogue and instead create a more ambitious publication - one with substance and staying power.07 (the year they graduate) became the unifying theme of the publication and became the starting point for a series of statements that offered scope and flexibility for the design and creative process. In the first instance the design team requested that each student produce a piece of creative writing in 7 minutes based on one of 7 subjects that related to aspects of being a designer - hope, detail, control, freedom, love, work, time. Subsequently the most creative pieces were selected and distributed to each student who then had 7 days to produce a visual response to the text they had been supplied with. This allowed them to include the majority of student's work (be it a piece of design, or a piece of writing), but it also allowed them to be selective and leave out the work they weren't happy with.
